A few weeks before her marriage to David Brunell, Jeanne Watkins, his fiancee, asked me if I would set a text that she'd written to be sung as a surprise to her husband at their wedding. I agree to do so for my long-time friends. Watkins' text was carefully crafted such that every line in her poem had the exact same number of letters in it. The Romantic style of the song was dictated by the occasion for which it was written.
