A new cadenza for the Glazunov Concerto for Saxophone and String Orchestra, a repertory staple in the literature of that instrument, was commissioned by Armenian-German saxophonist Hayrapet Arakelyan in 2013. He asked me for a more flashy and virtuosic cadenza than the one Glazunov wrote for his concerto. I am in no way trying to improve upon what this Russian master wrote, but simply attempted to fulfill the wishes of the commissioner.
