I wrote When I Consider as a surprise for my soon-to-be wife on our wedding day. The text I commissioned from Jeanne Watkins Brunell, whose poetry I'd also set for her own wedding. Given the venue of a wedding service, it should not be surprising that the music style of this work is overt Romanticism.
